New Families!

Happy New Year!

We are on holidays at the moment, and have had the luxury of spending some time "Sylvanian-ing"!  Mostly we have been moving new items and families into the village (and Town), and wallpapering some of our new houses.

We have also updated our Meet The Families pages with some of our new (and not-so-new) families.  You might notice that not everyone is there yet, and of those who are, not all have full biographies - these will no doubt be added eventually, but we wanted to get started by adding some names and photos first.  There's a lot to do, and we don't want it to become too much like work, so for quite a while it'll be a bit of a work in progress...

For now though, if you would like to meet my new Periwinkle family, or Caitlyn's Fielding and Trunk families, head to the Macadamia Grove Meet The Families page.  The Rivertail beavers have also had an updated photo taken in front of their new house!  If you'd like to see my Spotter family, you will need to head to the Town page.   They are all looking forward to meeting you!

  1. Hi GreyRabbit and Caitlyn!

Ah, it's so amazing when we manage to get some free time to spend Sylvanian-ing, isn't it? :D

Loved the close-up pictures of your new families, they're all so cute! That reminds me that I also need to take pictures and write bios for quite a few new families I've been getting recently!
I'm going to go and read your new ones now!

Such a sweet gesture to name your Spotter girl after Avdd!

    Have a wonderful day.

    2. Happy New Year to you both!

Periwinkles, Spotters and Fieldings, eh? You're certainly widening your options for story telling. What a great idea to have the Periwinkles responsible for providing electricity (love their names). That's something I've neglected in my world building; I've been thinking of water supply and managing waste, but haven't given a thought to lighting in Mellowdene. Maybe I should go for gas lighting to be different...

I look forward to seeing how you take these families forward.

      Bye for now!

    3. Thanks Jackson. Glad you enjoyed the Periwinkles' names - I am quite pleased with them!

Not everyone has electricity in Macadamia Grove - most of the citizens still use candles etc. Most of the shops & other businesses have embraced the new technology, but only a few of the larger, richer homes are connected. Running water is more common, although there is still the odd home that sends their children with buckets to the river each morning. :o)

Town is a different story - everyone has electricity in Town!

  2. Hi GreyRabbit!
    Lovely family pictures!
I enjoyed reading the Periwinkles´ bio. They´re really lucky to be the owners of the Field View Mill. It´s such a lovely building! It really suits them. Have you started decorating it yet?

It´s great you post pictures of your new families in the" Meet the families" page shortly after you get them. I should do the same even if I haven´t had time to write their biography. I have so many new families to add that now I feel really lazy to take pictures of all of them.I´m running out of ideas for personalities and jobs too.

    Have a wonderful week!

  3. Hi GreyRabbit!
Those families are really cute--and you did a great job with the bios. It was so sweet of you to name one of your Spotters after Avvd. I'm sure she would appreciate that very much :) Also, you took great pictures, like always!
Hope you have a great week,
    Emilie

  4. Thanks Emilie and Cutata for your kind words!
Cutata, I have not begun decorating the Field View Mill yet, and I won't for a while. The reason is simple: I got SO many new houses for Christmas that I don't have enough furniture for them all! (and I don't allow myself to just buy Sylvanians for no reason - or at least only VERY rarely - I feel like it would be a slippery slope if I did...)
The thing about Field View Mill is that it has a lot of playability even on the outside, thanks to all the balcony areas etc. So I figure I can get away with leaving the inside bare for the moment! I have decided which rooms are which though, and I have started putting some bits and pieces aside for the Periwinkles' workshop. :o)
