More Thistlethorns!

You may or may not remember that some time ago, I got a second lot of Thistlethorn mice, and integrated them into my existing Thistlethorn family.  I mentioned then that I had plans to make the extra adults into grandparents...

Well, it has taken a while, but here they are!

Meet Nathaniel and Marigold Thistlethorn.  They are Francis' parents, and are currently staying with his family while they look for a house of their own.  This is good for everyone, as they like to help out, and to spend time with their grandchildren.  They also enjoy going for walks together, and are partial to stopping for tea and scones if it is afternoon tea time, or a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers, if the hour is a little later!

If you would like to read a little more about them (or if you haven't met the rest of their family yet), pop over to our Meet The Families page and scroll down (the page is alphabetical by surname, so the Thistlethorns are near the bottom!)

  1. I love your Thistlethorns and the grandparents look great in their subtle colour-coordinated clothes and specs.

Your Thistlethorn biographies are a story in itself and it is an enjoyable read.

I must find time to re-read your earlier tales. These days I'm finding members of our Sylvanian community producing better content than a lot of TV!

    1. Thanks Jackson. I really should write some more proper stories. I have plenty of ideas - some that I've been wanting to do since I started the blog - but I just often feel like I never have time to do all the photos, and then I get sidetracked into doing a quicker easier project that I know I will be able to finish, like these Thistlethorns' glasses!
I've actually done a couple of crafty things to enter into forum challenges, but haven't photographed them yet... Soon! And then maybe a story....!

  2. Hi GReyRabbit,
I have a soft spot for Sylvanian grandparents. I love them all, either official or custom.
The Thistlethorns are adorable and the grandparents you made look great and fit perfectly into the family.
You did a very good job with the glasses. I tried making glasses in several occasions but they didn´t turn out very well. What kind of material did you use for Nathaniel´s glasses?
I also enjoyed reading their bios and some other families´ that I had to catch up with.
Do you intend to make a house for them? It´s great they´re living all altogether now. Their grandchildren must be delighted to enjoy their grandparents´company. They must be fun to be with.

    Have a lovely day!

    1. Hi Cutata, thank you for your lovely comments!
Nathaniel's glasses are made out of florist's wire - it is wire covered with a green papery coating. I had to glue the coating down in a couple of places, as it got a bit mussed in the process of bending the wire, but mostly it was fine.
Nathaniel and Marigold are enjoying having lots of time with the children, and Francis and Willow have been very grateful for their help, especially when Priscilla and Ash were frequently in and out of hospital. Now that all is well though, Nathaniel and Marigold are looking for their own little place. Yes I will probably have to build it for them, but this part of their story buys me a little time before it needs to be done! :)

  3. Hi Grey Rabbit and Caitlyn Hazelnut

I just reread the Thistlethorn's bios and got a little misty again! Good to see the Grandies included now. You have a wonderful way of bringing these little creatures to life for everyone to enjoy.
    Thanks

  4. Hi GreyRabbit and Caitlyn!
Sorry that it took me so long to commeng on your latest entries!
You did a wonderful job on the Thistlethorn grandparents! They both look wonderful, and I'm certain their family is delighted to have them with them until they find a place of their own. I enjoyed reading the bios and how you gave an explanation to the missing tails! I sure hope his grandpa's example helps Ash.
Marigold looks so sweet! The perfect grandma. I hope she agrees to read to the children at the new library.
    Have a great week!
