Introducing Dr Murdoch

Hello there!  Today I am introducing Dr Tobias Murdoch, a very well respected bear in Town.  I have also added him to our Town "Meet The Families" page.

I was lucky enough to find Dr Murdoch and his lovely Cottage Hospital at a very reasonable price, quite some time ago now, but he did not come in his original clothes.  In fact, all the good doctor was wearing was this aqua-coloured shirt.  I planned to keep him in the shirt, and make some pants to match, but I never seemed to get around to it...

Recently, one of the craft challenge prompts on the Sylvanian Families forum was "Healthcare", in recognition of all the healthcare workers doing such an amazing job all over the world right now.  So I decided this was an excellent opportunity to get around to sorting the hospital out, and making the long-awaited pants!  Hopefully they combine with Tobias' shirt to look a bit like hospital scrubs!  I also made him a surgical mask, for when he is operating.

The Cottage Hospital is a lovely building - this one came with some, but not all, of its original accessories.  I have added a few things, including making new bedding, some extra posters, and a shelf above the desk for some of the larger medical supplies and bulk medicines, as these items did not fit in the beautiful cupboard.  This is the layout I have decided on:

Caitlyn's Maple cat town girl, Miranda Maple, has been employed at the hospital as a receptionist.  She is friendly and efficient, and makes a very good first impression on arriving patients.

"Oh, good morning Mrs Caramel.  Do take a seat, the doctor will be with you shortly."

Some of the posters made Mrs Caramel feel a bit hungry...

While she is waiting, perhaps we will take a peep into Dr Murdoch's office...

He seems to be catching up on a little paperwork.

Luckily, he never makes his patients wait too long.

"Well, hello there.  How can I help you today?"

  1. Hi GreyRabbit!
I really enjoyed meeting Dr Tobias! It was a very good idea to make him some pants matching his blue shirt. It really looks like scrubs! The surgical mask is perfect and also quite adorable. :)
He had a very good idea to hire Miranda Maple as his receptionist. She seems very sweet and suited for the job. It does help when going to the doctor to be greeted cheerfully!
Love the posters in the clinic, all the things you made (the bed looks way more comfortable now!) and the way you decorated it. The high shelf was a great idea. I also used the pink curtain in my hospital building, hehe!

Thank you for another fun post and have a lovely week-end.

  2. A lovely introduction to Dr Tobias, GreyRabbit!
I love his outfit! He looks great in his scrubs and very professional!
The way you have decorated the hospital makes it look very real, with the posters and supplies, and those bottles of medicine and salt on the shelf. I hope someday I may find a hospital for my village too.
Thank goodness he's not one of those doctors who makes their patients wait a long time. It really doesn't help one's nerves if the doctor is running half an hour late, at least in my experience!
Thanks for sharing this with us! Have a great week!

  3. Hi GreyRabbit!

This is very impressive. The shelf is a great addition, and the trousers and surgical mask you made to match the shirt are just right. Lovely sewing.

Miranda Maple is a good choice for receptionist. I haven't assigned anyone that role in my hospital; I only have a baby Maple cat, and although I can visualise a Cakebread poodle in the role, I don't have any adults. You've made me realise I need a friendly-faced receptionist to put patients at their ease.

Tobias looks very approachable. I think we're lucky to have such friendly doctors in Sylvanian healthcare!

    Take care.

  4. Thank you Ayrell, Kelsie and Jackson for your lovely comments!

Miranda is working out very well - Dr Murdoch is very glad she applied for this role.
