He restocks the takeaway menus, wipes down the benches,
makes sure he has all the ingredients he needs for the day,
and makes the dough for the pizza bases.
When everything is ready, he lights the big pizza ovens...
... and then he is ready to open for business!
His first order of today was made over the telephone, so he got started on it straight away: a Tuna Special, and an Oakwood Supreme! Into the oven they went, using the long-handled peel...
Pizzas do not take long to cook in the hot ovens, so Mr Oakwood likes to get the boxes out ready for them. When the second one - the Oakwood Supreme - was ready, he slid the peel in under it...
... and lifted it out, sliding it directly into the box. That way it would stay nice and hot for as long as possible.
Right on time, the front door opened, and Mr Aaron Purr came in to collect his order.
"Hello Oliver," he said. "That smells wonderful!" His whiskers twitched appreciatively. While his wife Theodosia was a good cook, he knew she appreciated a weekly takeaway meal. Sometimes it was dinner, but this week they had decided on lunch, as Aaron had the day off work. Theodosia hoped that their baby triplets might nap while she and her husband ate together.
The next customer of the day was Alice Marshmallow, who was on her lunch break. She worked three days a week as a receptionist at the hospital, and liked to treat herself to a slice of pizza now and then.
Alice enjoyed her pizza very much - she took it away, deciding to walk off a few of the calories as she ate!
"Have a nice day!" called Mr Oakwood as she left.
He then turned to start working on his next order. It was shaping up to be a busy day - Mr Oakwood's favourite kind!
Toward the end of the lunch rush, Mr Harry Spotter and his son James dropped in for lunch. They were on their way home from a Sylvanian Scouts meeting, and had decided that it was the perfect opportunity to indulge in a delicious pizza without Mrs Spotter, who disapproved of casual eateries, much preferring to dine out at fancier restaurants.
"We shall have a men's lunch out," said Harry, and James, who was fifteen, felt very pleased and grown up.
Mr Oakwood had had it installed as a way for children and teenagers to entertain themselves whilst waiting for their meals to arrive, and indeed it had proved very popular.
James wondered whether he was too grown up to play with the game (at least whilst attending a "men's lunch out"). Little did he know that Harry was fully planning to have a go at it himself!
I love the bit of Mr Purr "His whiskers twitched appreciatively" haha! It's a brilliant story! was the pizzeria originally Cedar Terrace? And where did you get the sylvanian sized Pacman game...?
ReplyDeleteThanks Sequoia! Yes, this building is a Cedar Terrace. I actually own a few of them, so I have put them all on the same street in Town, and called it "Cedar Avenue". I like this building for Town, as it has three floors, and the rooms are large, so it lends itself very well to being an apartment building. That way I can house two or three families/singles in each building. In Mr Oakwood's case, he lives in the small apartment on the top floor above his pizza shop.
DeleteThe little Pacman game is a tin that came full of small lollies (candy). I was so excited when I found it years ago, as it is the perfect size! I didn't really feel it fitted well into Macadamia Grove though (a bit high tech), so I haven't used it until now. I think it fits in much better here. :)
That’s a good idea about using Cedar Terrace floors as apartments - I did do a similar thing once with the Grand Hotel but then the hotel was gone… my Sylvanians would LOVE a Pac-Man game like that what a good find!
DeleteHi GreyRabbit!
ReplyDeleteI like that you've used an Oakwood squirrel in your story; they are underused as a norm. I also like those particular pizza accessories. The ovens have real character and bring a unique vibe to Sylvanian pizza parlours. I used the shell of a Hamburger Restaurant for mine but I really like the building you chose, particularly liking the upper floor dining area.
A variety of customers always adds interest to stories and pictures and I'm happy to see the critters you chose. And doesn't Oliver Oakwood handle his paddle well?
Thanks for sharing this happy tale.
Thank you Jackson for your lovely comments :)
Delete;) Tuna with double cheese, please!
ReplyDeleteGreyRabbit, reading your new story was pure fun and brightened up my day. I wish Oliver Oakwood best of success with his pizza business - oh, and btw: Does he effect supplies to Purrchester?
Love from The City Of Cats,
yours Florence Holiday
Thank you Florence! Sadly I do not not think the pizza would stay hot on the long drive all the way to Purrchester!
DeleteI am sure Mr Oakwood would be greatly honoured if any Purrchester citizen were to visit though, if they are ever in the area!
Hi GreyRabbit!
ReplyDeleteBBQ chicken pizza for me, please! Reading this story makes me want to eat pizza. Mmm!
Mr. Oliver's Pizza Shop must be one of the largest in Sylvania and one of the best too. The two ovens and the large dining area are a sign that his business is doing very well (by the way, I love the red checkered tablecloths)
I'm happy for him because he seems very hard working and attentive to his customers.
I love the photo where he uses the paddle to put the pizza fresh from the oven in the box and the cute arcade machine.
Mr.Harry Spotter and his son James are really going to enjoy their "men´s lunch" . Sharing a pizza and a few rounds of pacman game sound like a perfect plan .
Thanks for sharing this lovely story! I really enjoyed it!
Hope to read a new one soon!
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks Cutata! :)
DeleteHi GreyRabbit! I loved visiting The Pizza Shop, and I wish I could try one of Mr Oakwood's creations myself! He has furnished the restaurant so well; I was amazed and suprised when I saw the tiny pacman machine!
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, I'm also working on my own pizza shop for my village, building it from polystyrene. I've had the pizza set for years but never had a proper home for it, hence the decision to create an official pizzeria.
I'm sure the residents of Macadamia Grove are indeed very pleased to have Mr Oakwood in the business in their town! Have a lovely week!
Thanks Kelsie. Oh, I hope you will share pictures of your pizza shop when it is finished! It sounds like quite a project, building it from scratch.
